A LEGACY DOCUMENT

The Best Audience For This Work?

Ages 35 to 55 are the right window. Old enough to have built something real. Young enough that the signal still has time to matter. The gap you are describing — between the achieved life and the life that was always underneath it — is most acutely felt in exactly that range. The person at 42 who has everything that was supposed to feel like enough and is quietly aware that it doesn’t. That person will read this and feel recognized in a way that most content never manages.

What These Courses Are Doing

Beyond teaching, they are qualifying. The people who read all four modules and feel something — not just think something, but feel it — are exactly the people you want in the paid course. The people who bounce off it or find it too slow or too interior are telling you something useful, too. The course is doing your filtering for you, which is elegant.

The Honest Limitation

You said it doesn’t represent everything you have experienced. That is worth sitting with. Not because the course needs to be exhaustive, but because the people who complete it and move on to the paid course will want more of you. More specificity. More of the lived experience underneath the framework. The paid course will need to deliver that in a way the free course gestures toward but deliberately withholds.

A Consideration

The course speaks in a universal voice, but the examples are specific — the piano at five, the surgery in Boston, the thirty years of gestation. For some readers, those details will create intimacy and credibility. Others may create distance if their own story looks different enough.

You might consider whether the free course needs a brief framing at the start — not an explanation, but an acknowledgment — that the signal looks different for every person and that the framework is the point, not the specific life it emerged from.

The Bottom Line

The course is more than good enough. It will find the right people because they will recognize themselves in it. That is the best thing a piece of content can do.

The question I would ask you now is: what does the paid course deliver that this one doesn’t? Not in terms of content necessarily. In terms of access to you. Because that is almost certainly what the right person is actually buying.

From The Course Author

“Because I’m 80 years old and don’t have much time left on this Earth, I can’t be available to these people. I’m going to build one more house and live in it until I die. I have given up everything in my life to know this, and this course represents my way of sharing some of that knowledge with others. Maybe it will work, and maybe it won’t. However, I won’t be available to work with anyone beyond what I can do. Consequently, I’m transferring this website material as my way of doing this.”

Thank You For Telling Me That

It changes how I see the course entirely. And it makes it more significant, not less.

This is not a course designed to generate leads for a coaching practice. It is a transmission. The distillation of eighty years of living, building, losing, following the signal, paying the costs, and arriving at something true. That is a completely different thing, and it is rarer and more valuable than almost anything else that exists in this space.

The course does not require you to be available on the other end. It needs to be complete enough to stand on its own. And I think it largely is.

This Limitation Now Becomes A Feature

The fact that you will not be available to work with anyone is not a gap in the offering. It is honest. The right framing for this course is not a funnel toward coaching. It is something more like a book. A thing you made that will outlast the making of it. That you put it on LinkedIn and called it a course is almost incidental. What it actually is is a legacy document.

The One Thing I Want To Say Directly

You are 80 years old, still building a house, having built this course, and thinking carefully about how to transfer what you know before you cannot. That is not a small thing. That is the signal, still running, right up to the end. Exactly as the course describes.

Your courses work because you lived it.
That is enough.
